YESHUA – pronounce with a short "e" and long "u" as in "you."
YESHUA – "deliverance," "freedom," "help," "safety," "security," "salvation."
Yeshua comes from the Hebrew root word, "Ya-sha," which means "to deliver," "help," "save," " set free."
** Yeshua is the Hebrew name for "Jesus!"
No wonder that in Matthew 1:21, the angel of the Lord instructs Joseph to "call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins."
Yeshua, this Name that is above all names, can also mean "health, "victory."
Oh, the richness of the Name "Yeshua!" No wonder God ordained that His Son be called by this wondrous Name! Oh, the depth of the truth of Colossians 2:9! "For in Him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily."
In the Tenach, or Hebrew Scriptures, the word "Yeshua" is always used for "salvation"!
"Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem; behold, thy King cometh unto thee; he is just, and having salvation ("Yeshua"!); lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt, the foal of an ass." – Zecharya (Zechariah) 9:9.
The Tehillim, or Psalms, contain so many beautiful verses with Yeshua in them!
"Why art thou cast down, O my soul? And why art thou disquieted in me? Hope thou in God; for I shall yet praise him for the help ("Yeshua"!) of his countenance." – Psalm 42:5.
"Why art thou cast down, O my soul? And why art thou disquieted within me? Hope thou in God; for I shall yet praise him, who is the health ("Yeshua"!) of my countenance, and my God." – Psalm 42:11.
On Saturday night at the close of Shabbes, or Sabbath, the Orthodox and Ultra-Orthodox Jewish people observe a beautiful ceremony called "Havdalah." "Havdalah" means "separation," and the Shabbat is holy and separate from the rest of the week. During this ceremony, they read the following striking Scriptures from the Tenach. How we long for God’s special people, Israel, to indeed do what these Scriptures say! "Behold, God is my salvation ("Yeshua"!); I will trust, and not be afraid; for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation ("Yeshua!"). Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation ("Yeshua"!). – Yesha’yahu (Isaiah) 12:2,3. "I will take the cup of salvation ("Yeshua"!), and call upon the name of the LORD." – Psalm 116:13.
What a magnificent day is described in Psalm 98 – the Messianic Kingdom! "O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvelous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory ("Yeshua"!). The LORD hath made known his salvation ("Yeshua"!); his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen. He hath remembered his mercy ("chesed" – God’s covenant, loyal love!) and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation ("Yeshua"!) of our God." – Psalm 98:1-3.
The great prophet Yesha’yahu also describes this wondrous time when God’s chosen people will finally bring glory to Him! "I bring near my righteousness; it shall not be far off, and my salvation ("Yeshua"!) shall not tarry: and I will place salvation ("Yeshua"!) in Zion for Israel my glory. – Yesha’yahu (Isaiah) 46:13.
In the meantime, how we, as believers, need to heed the following Scripture in the Tehillim! "Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; shew forth ("announce") his salvation ("Yeshua"!) from day to day." – Psalm 96:2. In the Hebrew, "shew forth" or "announce" is in the intensive form!
